SacObserver.com Logs 1 Million Hits
For April 2003
Marks First Million-Hit Month For
Web Site
(May 12, 2003) - SacObserver.com, the online
division of THE OBSERVER Media Group, reached a milestone
recently, receiving more than one million hits for the month
of April 2003.
The announcement - made public this week by Larry Lee, president
of SacObserver.com - points to the site's continued growth,
he said.
"We are very fortunate to have an online audience that
is responsive to the news and information we are providing
on SacObserver.com," Lee said.
"The site is proving to be a wonderful complement to
The OBSERVER Newspaper — providing relevant daily news
and resourceful information that our visitors can use,"
he added.
SacObserver.com received nearly 1.1 million hits, and had
nearly 81,000 visitors the month of April 2003, said the site's
creative director, Rowena T. Millado.
“Since January 2003, SacObserver.com’s traffic
growth has doubled,” Millado said. “For the first
quarter of 2003 alone, SacObserver.com received 3.2 million
hits and more than 208,000 visitors.”
As of April 2003, more than 8.7 million hits and 490,000
visitors have been logged since SacObserver.com’s launch
in January 2001, Millado added.
“The Web site’s traffic growth is a testament
that SacObserver.com has integrated into our audiences’
daily lives,” Millado said.
The popularity of the site, says Lee, highlights the ever-increasing
need to reach African Americans online.
"There are more than 10 million African Americans online
and data shows that Blacks, more often than others, use the
Internet to get their news and information," Lee said.
"We want SacObserver.com to continue to be the place
to go to get that information," he added.
