DANCE PERFORMANCE
Former Dance Theater of Harlem Ballerina NaTalia Johnson will take the stage for a rare one night West Coast performance at Hiram Johnson High School. Johnson is a Principal Dancer with both Urban Ballet Theatre, and Ballet Noir in New York City and was the only African American female ballerina invited to perform in the Gala of International Ballet Stars in 2007. Her local performance is an extension of her work as a mentor in the Girls Self Esteem Program, sponsored by the Fathers Resource Center and Little Miss Capital City Pageant. CHURCH ANNIVERSARY
In anticipation of its 50th anniversary, New Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, led by pastor Marine Erby, Sr., is celebrating with a number of activities. The anniversary activities continue with The Choir Annual Day set for July 12 at 3 p.m. The actual anniversary service will be held on Sunday, July 26.
